In a prospective, small-sample study of the risk of stroke during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with past stroke, the authors of this study evaluated 127 patients with ischemic stroke who underwent open heart surgery (OHS) Thirty-six patients (37-87) were included in the recent stroke (within the first 3 months of OHS), and 97 patients (range, 3-8 years old) with long-term stroke (more than 3 months before OHS). In the recent group, 90% (27/30) had no or minor neurological deficits, and 99% (96/97) in the long-term group. The majority of anterior circulation stroke (85%) had CT data in 69 cases (43) and lacunar (9) or normal (17) .The risk factors for both groups were similar: hypertension 60%, myocardial infarction 46%, smoking 35%, and diabetes 70%. In addition to the recent group of 1 patients were not included in the analysis of post-rehabilitation, the two groups after a total of 17 cases (13.4%) occurred
