Professor Suzuki of Osaka University in Japan discovered a substance that blocks angiogenesis in cartilage and successfully cultivated chondrocytes that secrete this substance. Cancer cells multiply by blood vessels generated around themselves. The experimental injection of the above substances can prevent the formation of blood vessels around the cancer cells, and play a role of “cutting off the food” for the proliferation of cancer cells. This discovery has important implications for the manufacture of new anti-cancer drugs. Cartilage is a rare avascular tissue in the human body. However, as the body develops, when the cartilage becomes hard bone, blood vessels begin to grow around. The United States has also studied this and pointed out that the cartilage component has the effect of preventing blood vessels from sticking out of the avascular tissue.
