本篇描写了一个老太太独自一人在城市里的生活。跟上期的《天使仁慈,天始愤怒》一样,同样写生日故事;但给人的感觉却是两回事。我们在阅读时可以作个对比。丹尼尔·莱昂斯,马萨诸塞州人,1960年出生,住在马萨诸塞州的查尔斯顿。莱昂斯既是记者,又兼小说家,生活比较忙碌,曾在1993年和1998年分别出版短篇小说集《最后的好人》、《生日蛋糕》和长篇小说《狗日子》。著名的《花花公子》杂志曾把“大学生小说奖”颁给他的短篇小说《灰狗巴士》。《波士顿书评》曾这样评价他的小说《最后的好人》:“尽管莱昂斯常常让自己笔下的人物显得很黑暗,但他的小说还是给读者留下一种永久的救赎,以及一种信念:相信人类那种生存和向善的精神力量。”
This article describes the life of an old lady in the city alone. Like the last issue of “Angel kindness, angry day before”, the same birthday story; but it gives the feeling is different. We can make a comparison when reading. Daniel Lyons, a Massachusetts born 1960, lives in Charleston, Mass. Lyons, a journalist and novelist, has a rather busy life. In 1993 and 1998, Lyons published short stories “The Last Good Man,” “Birthday Cake,” and the novel “Dog Days.” The famous “Playboy” magazine awarded the “College Student Novel Award” to his short story “Greyhound Bus.” The Boston Book Review commented on his novel “The Last Good Man” as follows: "Although Lyons often makes the characters in his paintings appear dark, his novels still give the reader a permanent redemption and a Belief: Believe in the kind of spiritual force that human beings survive and be good.
