Abiotic stresses result in the loss of millions of dollars'worth of agricultural crops each year(Munns and Tester,2008).The accumulation of sodium chloride in soils is a prominent abiotic stress and poses significant challenges to farmers(Munns et al.,2020).Moreover,soil salinity is predicted to worsen with the rise in global temperatures and depletion of groundwater resources.A key aspect for plants to tolerate salt stress is to change their growth and development(Byrt et al.,2018).Changes in plant growth are underpinned by the production and reorganization of cell walls as they support directed plant growth. However, relatively little is known about how salt exposure impacts cell-wall synthesis and how the plants are able to regulate such responses(Wang et al.,2016;Kesten et al.,2017).
