Introduction This article relates to the infrared radiation pyrometer for non-contact temperature measurement of objects that are rapidly moving (or rotating). Two examples will be discussed. A. Measurement and monitoring of the temperature and hot spots on rotor fins of running jet engines. The temperature of the airplane turbine wing is determined by the precise balance between the high heat flow caused by the high speed, high pressure and high temperature air flow of the nozzle wing and the cooling air flow within the turbine airfoil. Pyrometers can also be used for non-cooled fins, where the temperature is directly related to the temperature of the gas stream.
