In the 16 years since the September 11 incident, the differences between the U.S. Democratic Party and the Republican Party on a series of issues including the anti-terrorism strategy, the Muslim immigration policy, and the engagement with the Islamic world have been growing. The already serious “polarization” of Democrats and Republicans has worsened because of their different positions on the Muslim issue. The disagreements between the two parties on Muslim policies have not only been vividly reflected in their respective governments, but also demonstrated most in the 2016 presidential election. Due to its global interests and strong strategic forces and global interference capabilities, the U.S. attitude toward Muslims has a significant impact on its own international status and its external relations.
