《神思》篇是论述艺术想像的专题论文。主要讲艺术想像的特征，以及进行艺术想像的重要条件、要求和建议。虚拟性、具象性和抒情性是艺术想像的三大特质。神思不能等同于构思，也不能等同于形象思维。刘勰论文具有描述性，运用各种形式的比喻来说明道理，运用的比喻，不是论述的对象。
The “God Thought” is a monograph on artistic imagination. Mainly about the characteristics of artistic imagination, as well as the important conditions for the imagination of art, requirements and suggestions. Virtuality, figurativeness and lyricism are three traits of artistic imagination. Spiritual thinking can not be equated with the idea, nor can it be equated with the thinking of the image.
