Today is Sunday, my mother wanted to buy something and she asked me, “Will you want go to the market with me?” I said yes.
We went to the market happily. My mother bought some meat and vegetables. When I went into a stationery1 shop, I saw my classmate, Li Li. Her mother is the shopkeeper. Li Li was helping her mother with selling stationery.
“Hi, Li Li! How much is the pen?” I asked Li Li.
“It’s eight yuan.” she answered. I saw a blue pen with pretty flowers printed on it. I really like it, so I bought it. When I left the shop, I saw Li Li reading an English book. If there was no customer, she was learning English. My mother said to me in a low voice, “Look, Li Li is your good friend at school and she is your mirror. She studies so hard. Wherever she goes, she always keeps a book in her hand.”
My face turned red. I know Li Li is more hard-working than me. My mother always likes to compare2 me with other teenagers.
I went home with mother at eleven o’clock. I helped mother with housework and then I started to do my homework. My mother looked at me in a surprise, as if she saw an alien at home.
“Wow, I can’t believe you’ve changed a lot since we came back from the market!”
I have to admit3 that Li Li is my mirror. When I want to play computer games or hang out with friends, Li Li with a book in her hand will turn up in my brain.
