在这几年兴起的外国文学名著重译潮中,苏联作家奥斯特洛夫斯基的长篇小说《钢铁是怎样炼成的》(以下简称《钢铁》)也有了几个译本。对这股重译潮,人们褒贬不一。愚以为以中国之大,读者之多,一部文学名著出几个译本,印他几十万册,并不算多。只要不是粗倒滥造、抄袭剽窃和歪曲原著,都应该欢迎。如果出版家们不把名著重译变为纯粹的商业行为,那就更好
