圣经应当如何汉译God这个名称的问题,长久以来一直困扰着罗马天主教及新教。新教的汉语圣经是用“神”和“上帝”这两个词翻译。本论文逐一探讨评论使用这些翻译用语的理由与论据。古代中国人对“上帝”的了解与圣经中的“Elohim”和“Theos”有些许类似,但是却存在一些严重问题。这些问题包括:中国人对“上帝”的了解与圣经的“Elohim”和“Theos”有显著及重要的差异,而且“上帝”无法表达出“Elohjm”的复数含义,也无法表达出《新约》所表明圣父、圣子、圣灵皆为“God”的复数含义。另一方面,“神”是最接近希腊文“Theos”的翻译,并且也顾及到圣经陈述三一神时所涉及的复数含义。
The question of how the Bible should translate God’s name has long plagued Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. The Protestant Chinese Bible is translated in two words, “God” and “God.” This paper explores the reasons and arguments for using these translated terms one by one. The understanding of “God” by ancient Chinese is somewhat similar to that of “Elohim” and “Theos” in the Bible, but there are some serious problems. These questions include: Chinese people’s understanding of “God ” has significant and important difference from the Bible’s “Elohim ” and “Theos ”, and “God ” can not express “Elohjm ” Plural meaning, can not express the New Testament shows that the Holy Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit are all “God ” complex meaning. On the other hand, “God ” is the translation closest to the Greek “Theos ” and also takes into account the plural meaning involved in the Bible when it comes to the Triune God.
