Country idyllic country life has always been the way most British people aspire. Returning to the pastoral world and the social ideals it represents have become a theme frequently seen in many British literary works of different periods. The poet Wordsworth is an example. And contrast with the rustic rural life, it is often a symbol of modern civilization, urban lifestyles. Urban civilization gives people a better opportunity for development, while far away from the pastoral garden is to give people the dream. The British ambivalence between the two forms a theme of many literary works, both hidden and present. This article attempts to interpret the images of the cities and villages in the Victorian England as reflected in the novels of this period through the analysis of the major works of novels in the 19th century Britain Victorian period.
