尽管不能否认外来话语的强力冲击,中国现代文论与批评的建构却并非横向移植的产物,传统文论与批评之内在精神亦参与其中。茅盾是现代中国居主流地位的社会历史批评的奠基者和现实主义文学的中坚,也是中国化马克思主义文论的代表,《文心雕龙》是中古时代集大成的文论巨典。通过对二者核心观念与方法的比较,或可使现代文论与批评的“民族性”得以凸显。通过历史还原可以看出,茅盾对《文心雕龙》的贬低与否定是现代激进主义文化思潮的反映。其实,从二者的“作家论”所蕴涵的历史意识、整体观念、“知人论世”的批评方法,以及“真实”等理论范畴来看,实有一脉贯通之美学精神,由此也保证了茅盾等建构的现代文论与批评的“民族性”品质。
