河西地区各地、不同品种的亩保苗密度变动于20—45万之间,一般不形成产量的显著差异。这是由于保苗数(x)与成穗数(Y)、穗粒数(N)间的关系分别按x/Y=A+Bx和1/N=A+Bx的规律变化,千粒重又基本上是个常数造成的。河西地区春小麦适宜保苗密度(xopt)随海拔高度(h)的升高而下降,重穗型品种的理论方程为xopt=68.57-0.02401h,其相关系数为-0.7509(显著)。一个地方的田间保苗密度变动于xopt—xopt.90%间可认为达到了适宜密度。多穗型品种尚难提出具体数量指标,但估计大量应用多穗型品种的酒泉地区自玉门到酒泉亩保苗密度自37万逐步增至45万可能是适宜的。上述保苗密度指标估计在河西地区的适应面不下400万亩,若能全面使用,年节约、增产小麦可能达到2.0亿斤,且有利于稳定产量、方便管理的效果。因此,抓紧印证、推广这一结果十分必要。
