天山是亚欧大陆内部重要的活动构造带,通过地表地质和地震剖面解释相结合的研究方法,在天山中段南麓库车再生前陆逆冲带内部,鉴别出库车塔吾背斜南翼的褶皱崖和东丘里塔格背斜北翼的褶皱崖.褶皱崖是由于断层台阶状转折和运动,其上盘原来水平的沉积层和地表面因活动轴面及固定轴面的分离而形成单斜构造.测量褶皱崖的形态,利用受变形的第四纪沉积物的年代,求得深处断层所造成的地壳缩短,东丘里塔格背斜北翼第四纪缩短率为(1±0.1)mm/a.东丘里塔格背斜和库车塔吾背斜的褶皱崖证实了库车地区地壳缩短构造延伸进入第四纪晚期.

The fold of the eastern Qurlitag anticline and the Kucha Tarun anticline confirmed that the crustal shortening in the Kuqa area extended into the late Quaternary.
