Reporter:How do you comment on the development features of the exhibition industry in Indonesia, and what are the unique selling point of your venue?
The exhibition industry in Indonesia has seen positive growth year on year. This is due to the favorable macro-economic conditions such as large population, low inflation rate, increasing GDP and growing middle class. In 2017 we see the economy is still going strong as demand for the MICE sector is high, we can clearly see this growth in ICE’s own event progression in 2017 compared to year 2016. The unique selling points of our venue is we have the capacity to grow your event along with bespoke pricing structure to cater for all events.
Reporter:Does your venue receive government support as a venue? How do you think of government support?
ICE has close ties with the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia, where we enjoy good support from the ministry to exhibit our venue on various international high level MICE events such IMEX Frankfurt and other platforms.
The government’s support is critical in this industry, especially if we want to attract international events to Indonesia and towards the venue. Their influence to attract international large scale events is very important for the industry.
Reporter:What are the changes in customer needs as you see? How do you meet their demands? Our main clients, whether from exhibition or conference, have different needs at their respective events. Though we see two common factor such as High Speed Internet Access and flexible catering options.
The need for a stable high speed internet is very common in MICE venues such as ICE and we have to keep up to the challenge of accommodating large numbers of visitors to be connected with a stable internet.
Reporter: What are your achievements in sustainability and digitization?
ICE has achieved favorable results in the sustainability front as the venue has achieved the most energy efficient building award by the Minister of Energy and Mineral resources of Indonesia. By winning this award, ICE competes in the ASEAN Energy Award held by ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE). The ICE building was built with energy efficiency concept by using more direct sunlight resource while minimizing the usage of electrical lighting.
In terms of digitization, ICE has find new ways to promote the venue, by utilizing the ICE official social media platforms and ICE website to communicate to the market and enlarging the brand awareness and brand visibility.
Reporter:As a Deutsch Messe operated venue, how do you as the manager from Deutsch Messe combine international standards and local features?
Deutsche Messe has implemented international standards in their day to day operations, including standard operating procedures, building health and safety requirements, and various other forms of operating procedures. We futher combine local knowledge and expertise to the international standards that Deutsche Messe has implemented at ICE.
Reporter:What do you think of the importance of talented people and what are your experiences in talents cultivation and retaining?
ICE sees talented human capital as the back bone of the company. That is why we encouraged our employees to further their knowledge, not just on their particular expertise but by taking further training and studies on other fields. ICE also provides compensation and benefits to retain their talented employees.
With the total of 114 employees, ICE has a small but effective number of staff to operate such a large scale venue. Getting “the right person on the bus” is one of our strategies and objectives in regards to effective optimization of personal.
