Magnetic taconite in Canada and the United States, magnetite quartzite in the Soviet Union mostly belong to hard lean magnetite, and some new problems have been encountered for the above ores using wet self-abrasion technology. Among them, the average hardness of the selected ore (Platts) is high, generally 16-20, with individual values of 24 or more. Hardness varies greatly between ore types and between ores and rocks in ore bodies, sometimes up to 0.5 ~ 1 times. The general self-grinding process used in the 1960s and early 1970s can not adapt to the nature of this ore, resulting in a very unstable grinding process and a low grinding efficiency from the grinding machine.
