马铃薯在全世界广泛种植,既是重要的粮食作物,又可作蔬菜,其世界年总产量仅次于小麦、水稻和玉米.马铃薯Y病毒(PVY)、马铃薯X病毒(PVX)和马铃薯卷叶病毒(PLRV)引起的病害是造成我国马铃薯退化的重要原因,严重危害马铃薯生产.尤其是2种甚至3种病毒混合侵染带来的损失远大于各病毒单独侵染.国外科学家的研究表明,表达病毒外壳蛋白(CP)基因的转基因马铃薯能显著延缓该病毒病害症状的发展并减轻其危害程度.美国已获得同时表达PVX和PVY CP基因的双价转基因马铃薯,其中1个转基因株系对这两种病毒的混合侵染表现高抗.国际上还未见转3基因抗病毒马铃薯的报道.
