戏曲音乐分为两大类,板腔体结构和曲牌体结构。板腔体结构的戏曲音乐的基本音阶与音律是七声和十二音体系,这种音阶关系和西洋音乐中的古典音阶相同,所以给中国戏曲音乐和西方作曲技术的结合,提供了一个天然的契机。戏曲作曲是一门新兴的学科,是在戏曲音乐近几百年实践层面上的理论总结。本文以戏曲作曲为研究对象,论述了戏曲音乐演变、发展、创新的三个过程,并对传统的单线条单旋律的戏曲音乐和现实意义中多声部、纵横、立体的戏曲音乐创作做了比较,用实际范例解读了戏曲作曲的主要内容。
