20世纪以来,工笔重彩艺术的发展经历了举步维艰、曲折坎坷的历程。一方面是社会动荡,内忧外患,战乱不断,缺乏富裕安定的客观发展条件。另一方面则是文人画观念犹居主导地位,认为工笔画工丽近俗,以致学者却步。建国后情况好转,但由于提倡人物主题先行,水墨画发展优于工笔画。直至新时期到来,思想再度解放,工笔重彩画界志士仁人在老画家潘洁兹先生领导下,成立画会等创作与研究组织,工笔画优越性渐为人们认识,从事者越见众多,精品力作不断涌现,终于蔚成风气。当然,工笔艺术的发展离不开改革开放、安定富足的社会大环境。即从历史情况看,在封建社会上升期,即唐、宋时期,工笔原早与
