It is the embodiment and supplement of its essential art philosophy, and also closely linked with its art history. Danto’s pluralistic artistic critique emphasizes the departure from “each work’s own condition” to explore its uniqueness, rather than to discover some sort of universal formality. He advocated the restoration of the artwork to the context in which it was generated, and deepened this understanding using “intertextuality.”
