照片上这个庞然大物是英国罗尔斯·罗伊斯公司研制的遄达800民用发动机。该型发动机已被选用为波音777的动力。遄达800首先装在泰国国际航空公司的波音777上投入航线使用,后又有我国香港国泰航空公司、酋长国航天公司等采用。在遄达800发动机的研制中,集中了罗罗公司以往多项先进的和成熟的技术、材料,如独有的三转子结构、钛合金宽弦叶片等,使其具有推力大、可靠性好、营运成本低、检修容易、运输简便等特点;而且该发动机的噪声和氧化氮的排放也较低,减少了对环境的污染,可满足航空公司业务的需要。
