In order to protect the permafrost and enhance the stability of highway subgrade in permafrost region, this active cooling measures of block stone subgrade are studied. Relying on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway Wudaoliang block rock subgrade solid observation project, through field monitoring data, comparative analysis of the block rock subgrade and the common subgrade temperature field change process, verify the block stone subgrade active cooling effect. The results show that compared with the common filling subgrade, the slab stone roadbed plays a good role of “heat diode”, the cold season can increase the storage capacity of the subgrade, and the warm season can effectively prevent the outside hot air from entering the roadbed. Preventing permafrost thawing and active protection of frozen soil has played an active and effective role.
