调查结果表明,危害麦积山石窟及周边旅游环境的有害生物有72种,隶属于2界4门6纲12个目39个科59个属。其中泛刺同蝽为优势种,鼯鼠、松鼠、蜂类的危害最为严重。石窟中有80%的洞窟均有有害生物分布,发生严重的洞窟有21个,占调查总洞窟的40.0%。动物对塑像和壁画的主要危害是钻蛀石雕塑和壁画、在塑像和壁画上筑巢、排泄物引起局部壁画颜料褪色、变色,甚至导致颜料层、白粉层翘起、脱落。经防治试验,提出了针对鼯鼠、蜂类、蝽类和瓢虫等有害生物的防治措施。
