六月的第三个星期日是父亲节。一年一度的父亲节即将来临,为人之子都会在父亲节那天为父亲祝福。在奇异有趣的动物世界里,有一群特别的“动物爸爸”们,他们担当起哺育、照顾后代的重任,在父亲节那天,我们是不是也要记住他们呢?让我们来认识一下这些可敬的“动物爸爸”们吧!
雄蟑螂——哺育后代 甘食鸟粪
Cockroach (蟑螂): A father cockroach eats birds’ droppings (鸟粪) to obtain (得到; 获得) precious (宝贵的; 珍贵的) nitrogen (氮), which he carries back to feed his young.
雄狨猴——“贤夫良父”悉心照子
Marmoset (狨): Marmoset is a kind of tiny (极小的;微小的) South American (南美洲的) monkey. The fathers take care of their babies from birth. When the marmoset is born, the father cleans it, then carries it to the mother only when it needs to be suckled (喂奶). When the baby can eat solid food (固体食物), the father will feed it.
沙鸡爸爸——为儿取水疲于奔波
Sand grouse (公沙鸡): A father sand grouse of Africa’s Kalahari Desert (非洲卡拉哈里沙漠) flies as far as 50 miles a day in order to soak (浸湿) himself in water and return to his nest, where his chicks can drink from his feathers (羽毛)!
达尔文蛙——用嘴哺育幼儿
Darwin frog (达尔文蛙): The male (雄性的) Darwin frog hatches his eggs in a pouch(育儿袋) in his mouth. He can eat and continue about his business until(直到) his tadpoles (蝌蚪) lose their tails (尾巴), become tiny frogs (小青蛙), and jump out of his mouth!
雄鯰鱼——用嘴孵化卵子
Catfish (鲶鱼): A father sea catfish keeps the eggs of the mother sea catfish in his mouth until they are ready to hatch. He will not eat until his young are born, which may take several weeks.
