１９９６年１０月～１９９７年１月期间，旬阳县沙阳乡、过岩镇发生麻疹暴发，疫情波及两乡镇３７个村。累计发病２２５例，罹患率为１０６１％。无死亡病例。沙阳乡第一例麻疹病人为本次流行的首发病例，于１９９６年９月底由外省传入。本次麻疹流行的发病年龄主要集中于１０～１４岁组，在校学生为主要发病人群。麻疹疫苗（ＭＶ）接种质量低造成的有效接种率降低以及漏种、漏卡造成易感人群大量积累，疫情报告不及时延误了应急预防措施的采取，是本次流行的主要原因
