本研究旨在探讨中国英语学习者花园路径句理解的最终表征以及工作记忆容量和语言水平在这种特定句型理解中的作用。通过对花园路径句主句和从句理解测试、工作记忆测试和语言能力测试,我们在中国英语学习者花园路径句理解上发现了不完整的最终理解表征,即消歧与曲解残留并存的现象;同时,尽管工作记忆容量和语言水平影响花园路径句歧义的消解,但与这种不完整表征的建构都未发现显著相关。
The purpose of this study is to explore the ultimate characterization of Chinese English learners’ understanding of the path-sentence in the garden and the role of working memory capacity and language proficiency in understanding this particular sentence pattern. Through the comprehension test, the work memory test and the language ability test of the main sentences and the clauses of the garden path sentences, we found the incomplete final understanding representation of Chinese English learners’path-path comprehension, that is, the phenomenon of disagreement and misinterpretation. At the same time, although the capacity of working memory and linguistic level affect the disambiguation of garden path sentences, no significant correlation was found with the construction of this incomplete representation.
