Designers are working on the 3rd generation mobile communication base station equipment development. This new device will enable service providers to accommodate more subscribers (and thus more revenue) and, more importantly, subscribers access higher-speed data services including Internet radio access and wireless video transmission. The 3rd generation data rate target is 2Mb / s, the standard of which is established by 3GPP (the 3rd GenerationPartnership Project). The key to equipment manufacturers winning this market is the ability to build a flexible system. Although today’s proposal is about 2Mb / s data rate, what should be done for tomorrow’s 10Mb / s rate? Flexible design should allow the deployed system to grow as the customer’s requirements and service provider demand.
