著名作家汪曾棋在八十年代初复出之后修改四十年代旧作而写成的短篇小说《异秉》,是中国当代文学的一个有趣的象征。这部作品,为重新出发的中国当代文学接续了现代文学发展到四十年代所积累的精神能量与艺术传统,奠定了中国新时期文学相对于依附政治意识形态和时代思潮而言更加谦卑、稳靠并且恒久的不可忽视的民间大地的视野和升斗小民的情怀,也一其沉静老到精致的谋篇布局、遣词造句和揣摩玩味,建立了当代汉语短篇小说乃至整个汉语叙事文学的一个暂时还难以超越的标高。
