现今,我国大学英语教学改革与创新正在往深层次推进,教育部高教司指出,大学英语的教学目标是培养学生的英语综合应用能力,无论是听说读写哪方面的能力。因此,在现代社会的高等院校中,其教学模式应特别使英语教学以专业知识为背景,并朝着个性化学习、自主式学习方向发展。新的教学模式要求教师重新定位自己的角色,这便使得传统模式中教师的主导地位受到挑战,教师由知识传播者、灌输者转变成学生学习知识、主动构建知识的帮助者和促进者。而在医学院校里,英语由于既对医学生相当重要却又只能在医学院校里处于基础课程的尴尬地位而有着特殊性。本文通过回顾传统的大学英语教学模式的特点及其利弊,拟对医学院校里大学英语教师角色的转换进行探究,从而可以更明了高等医学院校大学英语教师在语言教学中如何客观的进行定位。
Nowadays, the reform and innovation of college English teaching in our country are being promoted to a deeper level. The Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education pointed out that the teaching goal of college English is to cultivate students’ ability to use English comprehensively, no matter what is the ability to read and write. Therefore, in modern institutions of higher learning, its teaching mode should make English teaching especially take the professional knowledge as the background, and develop in the direction of individualized learning and autonomous learning. The new teaching mode requires teachers to reposition their roles. This makes the dominant position of teachers in the traditional mode challenged. Teachers are transformed from knowledge disseminators and inculcators into students’ learning knowledge and active help-makers and promoters of knowledge. In medical schools, however, English is distinctive because it is both important to medical students and can only be embarrassed by the basic curriculum in medical schools. By reviewing the characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of the traditional college English teaching model, this article intends to explore the transformation of college English teachers’ roles in medical colleges and universities so as to make it more clear how college English teachers in higher medical colleges can objectively locate their language teaching .
