Methane is a rich, inexpensive carbon source that is one of the most influential gases in the greenhouse. In this study, a new methane-utilizing strain, Methylomonas sp. SW1, was isolated from sewage in the Water and Sewerage Center of Wonju City, South Korea. The conditions for the production of uracil from methane using Methylomonas SW1 were investigated and optimized, such as copper ion concentration and temperature. The results showed that M. monocytogenes SW1 could produce uracil using methane as the sole carbon source, and the titer of uracil was 2.1 mg / L after 84 h culture under optimized conditions. The results of this study show that methane is used as a raw material and methyl is used
