1. Post-modernism Japan’s opening to the outside world and international exchanges began in 1859 and have been 130 years old. Since then, Japan’s politics, economy, and culture have rapidly embarked on the road to modernization. In these 130 years, the construction industry is no exception and is constantly moving forward. It can be said that the fruitful achievements of today’s Japanese architecture should also be attributed to the modernization efforts made during these 130 years. Well, what is the content of this modernization? I think it can be said that it is learning from Western architecture. Japan in modern times believed that the Western science and technology and culture are more advanced than themselves. We must continue to study hard in the West and strive to fully grasp the Western scientific culture. Some of this effort is amazing. Architects from European countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Austria have all been invited to Japan for architectural design; at the same time, many Japanese architects have studied in Europe and America. In addition to talent exchanges, Japanese architects often read European and American magazines and books and strive to learn cutting-edge knowledge in the world.
