On June 6-15, 1994, the International Symposium on Engineering Immigration and Reconstruction was held in Hyderabad, a city in central India. The conference was jointly organized by the World Bank Institute for Economic Development (WBEPI) and the Indian Institute of Administrative Management (ASCI). From the World Bank, India, China, Nepal and Bangladesh, 47 experts, professors, project managers, government officials and scientific and technical workers attended the meeting. The central topics of the conference are involuntary resettlement and reconstruction caused by projects such as water conservancy, electricity, and transportation.
