This article describes the measurement results of backscattering of sea clutter when the grit angle is 0 ° ~ 8 °. Sea clutter data were recorded during the E-3A maritime radar (S band, horizontal polarization, narrow pulse) qualification test. Between November 79 and May 1980, almost 2 billion distance gates were recorded. Delete the data judged to be outside the system dynamic range and mixed into the ground clutter. The condition of a calm sea surface to a state of sea level five with a wind speed of 40 knots is recorded. The true state of the sea is reported hourly by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) meteorological buoys over satellite communications lines. Wind speed is reported by the buoy and the target ship operator used for the test. The absolute backscatter level is determined by comparing the clutter echo with the echo of the dihedral corner reflector of the measured cross section. The system gain does not vary by more than 2 dB between flights, thus allowing a reliable comparison of all the data.
