An amorphous ferrochromium alloy material for spraying has been developed for use in aeronautical products. Iron-chromium alloy parts are said to be 10 times longer in wear resistance than parts coated with traditional spray coatings. For example: Cearamrc 2000 process uses the principle of inert gas atomization into small droplets, rather than using the usual compressed air. In the controlled arc atmosphere can produce a larger density and lower porosity of the coating, and reduce the oxide content. As a result, Cearamrc 2000 is comparable to plasma spray in terms of wear and corrosion resistance. In addition, the process provides economical access to larger coating thicknesses compared to plasma spray or high velocity oxy-fuel technology.
