Located on the southern tip of downtown Manhattan, the New York World Trade Center is located on Manhattan Island and covers an area of 6.5 hectares. It is the most famous high-rise building group in the world that consists of 6 buildings. The purpose of building the World Trade Center is to provide an office space for private companies and government agencies engaged in world trade, and to promote the economic development of Manhattan. It is funded by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, using Japanese-American architect Yamasaki’s design. The project started in 1966 and was completed in 1973. The World Trade Center consists of a hotel, a customs building, two 9-storey buildings for use by important government trade organizations and leased by international business organizations, and the other two are the main building, the 110-storey north-south tower.
