Aiming at the improvement of paraffin as a phase change material, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are used as heat transfer enhancers to increase the thermal conductivity of paraffin. The paraffin / CNTs composite phase change material with 0.02% (wt%), 0.05% and 0.1% CNTs was prepared experimentally. The phase transition of the composites was characterized by differential scanning calorimeter and thermal conductivity meter respectively. Characteristics and thermal conductivity were characterized and measured. The experimental results show that the thermal conductivity of the composites increases with the increase of the amount of CNTs, the enthalpy of phase increases first and then decreases, and the enthalpy of phase transition is 152.8 ~ 157.9kJ / kg when the amount of CNTs is 0.1%, which is lower than pure paraffin However, the thermal conductivity was 0.487W / m · K (solid state) and 0.262W / m · K (liquid state), which were 21.14% and 29.06% higher than that of pure paraffin respectively. The stability was good and showed good thermal conductivity .
