东方红〈2〉〈3〉〈5〉型内燃机车装用的12180ZL 型柴油机气缸套支承法兰(以下简称支承法兰)在运用中经常发生局部断裂。如1982年1月9日东方红〈3〉型0055号内燃机车牵引154次列车,在丰润站发现Ⅱ机第5缸气缸套裂,缸内有水,柴油机不能起动,只好用一台柴油机维持运行回京。我段自1980～1982年共发生这类事故65次,不仅影响机车运用,而且需要3个熟练工人4小时才能处理完,共计损失5万多元。
