With DTPA extraction, determination of soil Fe-Mn-Cu-Zn by atomic absorption spectrophotometer has been widely used in neutral and calcareous soils. DTPA is a chelating agent that acts as an extractant to simulate plant nutrient uptake and rhizosphere soil replenishment. DTPA extraction is incomplete partial leaching. Various factors affecting soil reaction rate with DTPA: soil crushing degree, oscillation time, oscillation intensity, acidity of extraction liquid, volume of extraction vessel and extraction temperature all affect the amount of leaching.
