In this paper, the concept of cognitive schemata is used to explain the coherence of discourse. It is considered that coherence is the product of cognitive process and the reader’s understanding of the logical relationship between the things, events, concepts, processes and results described in the text. In reading text messages, readers need to use three levels of cognitive schemas that exist in the brain: scripted, plan, and thematic. When he succeeded in matching the received new information into the existing schemata of cognition and establishing the connection between the slots, he established a macro-thematic schema throughout the text Coherent interpretation of the text. To achieve this goal, sometimes readers need to modify the original cognitive schema. If there is no cognitive schema in the reader’s brain that new information can embed, the reader needs to establish a new cognitive schema.
