The output of cultural and entertainment products from the United States has been severely boycotted by EU allies and neighboring North American countries, just as the recently exported beef with hormones and chicken infected with the germs have been hampered. Officials from the U.S. Trade Representative Canter Office recently confirmed that the United States has formally filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization about Canada’s 80% royalty tax on the Canadian version of Sports Illustrated magazine’s advertising revenue. The United States believes that Canada’s recent implementation of a high taxation policy on Sports Illustrated is an obvious trade protectionism attempt to expel American magazines from the Canadian market. Canter claimed that the United States is determined to win this lawsuit with Canada in order to fight back the growing siege of U.S. publishing and entertainment products by Canada, Europe and Asia.
