Over the past 15 years since the Argo project was organized and implemented in China, more than 350 profile buoys have been deployed in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. The Argo Ocean Observing Network in China has been established and a data receiving, processing and distribution system for Argo profile buoys has been established. Argo Data developed a number of data products, to some extent, to promote the sharing of domestic marine data. The massive Argo data has become the main data source for basic research and operational applications in the marine and atmospheric sciences of our country, especially in tropical cyclones (typhoons), ocean circulation, mesoscale eddies, turbulence, Group and the ocean, weather / climate service forecasting and achieved a number of important research and application results. As the international Argo program is expanded from “core Argo ” to “global Argo ”, the long-term maintenance and sustainable development of Argo Ocean Observing Network in our country is facing great challenges. We should seize this rare opportunity and make use of the domestic Beidou Sectional buoys built the Argo Regional Ocean Observatory in the South China Sea and the waters of the Northwest Pacific and Indian Oceans adjacent to our country and more to assume the responsibilities and obligations of a large maritime power in response to global climate change and the prevention of natural disasters.
