3D printing technology after several years of development, has taken off the mysterious veil, and began to be used in various fields. Recently, the city of Alcobendas in Spain revealed the world’s first 3D printed footbridge made entirely of concrete. This landmark building, 12 meters long and 1.75 meters wide, is a milestone in the civil engineering field. The 3D printing bridge is a combination of eight separate parts, the structural design of which is completed by the Advanced Architectural Academy of Catalonia (IAAC), followed by the construction by the Spanish civil engineering company Acciona. Alcobendas said the design of this stunning footbridge uses organic and biomimetic technology that looks similar to that found in the natural environment
