Huangyan citrus quality has declined in recent years. From the external view, during the period of national unification acquisition, the export qualified fruit was 72.3% in 1972, only 46.9% in 1979, a decrease of 25.4%. Soluble solids inside the fruit decreased from 12-13% in early 1980 to about 10% in 1980 compared with 1978; early orange dropped from 11.5% to 10%; and tangerine declined from 12% to 10.5%.
