ND-1粘度计自动操作仪系根据光电控制原理,在玻璃毛细管粘度计测定球的上、下刻线处安装电传感头(光源及光敏元件),由于空气与液体介质折射率的不同,当液面通过该处时,因介质变化使光敏元件接收来自光源的光强发生变化,从而产生不同的光电信号。这一信号由检测电路进行整形放大,通过逻辑电路触发及控制计数门进行自动计时,以数字显示出测量结果。其量程为9999.999秒,计时精度为0.003%。仪器还通过对与粘度计相连的各电磁阀门和抽气设备启闭的逻辑程序控制,实现实验操作自动化。
