Objective To explore the impact of Pilates exercises on the physical health of ordinary college students with weak constitution. Methods 80 undergraduates from Nanjing University were enrolled in this study. They were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, with 40 in each group. The experimental group conducted Pilates teaching, while the control group conducted health care teaching. The body shape, physical fitness, physiological indices and mental health of patients were compared before and after the test using the symptom self-rating scale (SCL-90 measurement) and other indicators. Results After 16 weeks of teaching and learning, the experimental group after Pilates teaching, the body weight, body mass index, waist fold, waist circumference, vital capacity, vital capacity index, step test and many other indicators than before the test was statistically significant (P <0.01). There was significant difference in somatization, obsessive-compulsive symptom and depression between the two groups in SCL-90 test (P <0.01). Conclusions The results show that the weak physical students in colleges and universities to carry out long-term Pilates Exercises can improve students’ physical health and promote their physical and mental comprehensive development.
