Thyroid peroxidase (Thyroid pero-xidase) referred to as TPO is an iron porphyrin-containing hemoglobin. TPO is synthesized by the ribonucleoprotein and exists in many subcellular structures. Electron microscopy is mainly located on the top of mitochondria, rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi and epithelial cells. TPO plays an important role in the synthesis of thyroxine, such as iodine oxidation, tyrosine iodination and conjugation.
