Objective: To investigate the relationship between Survivin expression and tumor microvessel density in differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods: Survivin and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were detected in 47 cases of differentiated thyroid carcinoma, 10 cases of thyroid adenoma and 10 cases of normal thyroid tissue by immunohistochemical method. The content was measured by pathological image analysis system. Microvessel density (MVD). Results: The positive rate of Survivin protein expression in 47 cases of differentiated thyroid carcinoma was 46.8%, which was negative in thyroid adenoma and normal thyroid tissue. There was a significant correlation between the expression of Survivin protein and the expression of VEGF protein and MVD in differentiated thyroid carcinoma (all P <0.05). It was closely related to the clinical stage, completeness of the tumor capsule and cervical lymph node metastasis. CONCLUSION: Survivin is upregulated in differentiated thyroid carcinoma and closely related to tumor angiogenesis, which suggests that Survivin plays an important role in the occurrence and development of differentiated thyroid carcinomas.
