笔者任教的学校是苏北一所农村初中中学,地处江苏省邳州市睢宁县铜山县三县交界处,交通不便,信息不畅,虽不算是落后地区,但这里的学生接触外界事物的机会还是相对较少的,了解外面的世界仅仅靠有限的电视、广播信息,仍可称为边远地区,这给英语学科的教学增加了不小的难度,加上学生对第二外语的天生缺陷,可以想象学生对英语的学习是多么的困难,想要把它学好又是多么的不容易。
