As a result of the lack of demand from domestic sawmills and buyers of international logs, West Africa will continue to reduce logging. Market participants estimate that the number of logs currently being harvested is about 10% to 30% of the usual level for the same period. From the second quarter onwards, few European importers appeared in the African buying market. German importers say they only buy a small amount of logs occasionally. In this case, it is reported that there is also a high demand for the quality of the logs because the customer even purchases a small quantity. Therefore, it is very difficult to get proper sawn timber. In contrast, importers in China, Vietnam and India are slightly more active.
