Many aspects of modern science, military and economic development require measurement of distances of a few hundred meters, from a few kilometers to tens of kilometers, with very high precision (eg on the order of 10 to (-6)). For example, a high-precision coordinate control network is established on the ground; distance measurement is conducted on satellite targets, missiles and satellite tracking stations; a super ground baseline is established; large-area crustal deformation is measured; faults are identified and continuously monitored
